We help homeowners across the Mornington Peninsula transform their outdoor space into a sanctuary that reflects the local environment – and your lifestyle.

Designs That Work with the Land, Not Against It

At Flo Landscapes, we don’t do cookie-cutter.

Every landscaping project starts with a chat – a proper landscape consultation to get to know your block, your lifestyle, and your dream garden vision.

Then, our design team brings it to life

🏡  How you live outside – Do you love entertaining? Need space for the kids to roam?

🌿
Your local flora and climate – What native plants will thrive where you are?

🪷
What inspires you  – Think bluestone steppers, gravel pathways, soft garden beds, and water features that feel like they’ve always been there.

Why Savvy Peninsula Homeowners Are Switching to Native Landscape Design

There’s something effortlessly beautiful about a native garden.

It works with the land, not against it – thriving in our coastal climate, reducing garden maintenance, and supporting the local ecosystem. From rugged Melaleuca lanceolata to soft tussock grass and flowering native shrubs, your garden becomes a living, breathing extension of nature.

Unlock hidden flow in your outdoor space—without extending your footprint:

Busy families wanting a low-maintenance garden

Beach houses in need of a resilient coastal garden

Front gardens that make a strong first impression

The Garden You’ve Always Wanted – Rooted in the Land You Love

Native Design Consult

You don’t want a landscape. You want a feeling.

Imagine stepping outside each morning into a space that breathes with you — one that reflects your lifestyle, your taste, and your vision for the future.

• Stressed every time you look out into the backyard?
• Feel like there's untapped potential in your property?

• Overwhelmed with your garden project?

• Lacking ideas or inspiration?

Our consultations are tailored, thoughtful, and grounded in design principles that never go out of fashion:

Our signature “Design DNA” method that decodes your ideal outdoor environment in one session

How we layer sensory elements — touch, scent, and acoustics — to craft mood-rich spaces.

The silent power of materials: what timber, stone, and steel say about your personality.

The principle of emotional zoning — turning gardens into distinct destinations for rest, play, and connection.

Why symmetry is overrated — and how asymmetry creates effortless elegance.

HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT LANDSCAPE DESIGN IN MORNINGTON PENINSUNLA?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is a native garden, exactly?

A native garden uses plants and design elements that are indigenous to your local environment – in our case, species that thrive on the Mornington Peninsula. Think Melaleuca lanceolata, soft tussock grasses, and hardy coastal shrubs that flourish in sandy soil, salt-laden winds, and seasonal drought.

Some of our go-to native varieties include:

    • Banksia integrifolia (Coast Banksia) – stunning yellow flower spikes and excellent windbreak

    • Westringia fruticosa (Coastal Rosemary) – neat, grey-green foliage and perfect for shaping

    • Leptospermum laevigatum (Coastal Tea Tree) – strong structure and salt-tolerant

    • Lomandra longifolia – a durable strappy grass that adds texture and movement

    • Dianella caerulea (Flax Lily) – striking purple flowers and low fuss

    • Correa alba (White Correa) – compact and flowering, great for coastal gardens

    • Poas and Themeda triandra (Kangaroo Grass) – adds softness and rhythm to open areas

    • Grevillea lanigera (Woolly Grevillea) – bird-attracting and flowering for months

    • Acacia cognata ‘Mini Cog’ – lush, weeping foliage for visual softness

It’s a garden that belongs to the land – low-maintenance, water-wise, and designed to evolve beautifully over time.

  • Why choose a native garden over exotic plants?

Native gardens require far less water, fertiliser, and upkeep. They’re perfectly suited to the Peninsula’s changing conditions – from salty sea breeze to dry summer heat. Plus, they support local flora, fauna, and pollinators. Exotic plants can look pretty, but they’re often hard work. We prefer beauty and brains.

  • Will my garden still look modern and stylish?

Absolutely. A native garden doesn’t mean bushy and overgrown – we blend clean lines, bluestone steppers, gravel pathways, and structured garden beds to create contemporary, low-maintenance outdoor spaces. Native design can be sleek, architectural, and very on-trend.
